Blue Badge Concessionary Travel - DfT API Release 117 - 14/05/25

The Department for Transport has confirmed that Blue Badge Digital Service API Release 117 is scheduled for Wednesday 14th May 2025

What is changing?

Badge details will no longer be available via the API endpoint: /badges/{badgeNumber}.

LAs will not be able to perform nationwide searches using the /badges endpoint.

LAs will still be able to search on badges within their own LA.

What is the impact on IEG4 Blue Bage Case Management?

As a result of this change, the API will no longer return data from an outside LA from this date.

This will mean that when you use the National Search, only records that are in your Authority will be returned and the linked badges alert will only pick up badges that you have issued.

It is our intention to work with the IEG4 Blue Badge User Group, to understand more fully the implications of these changes on back office processing and to consider any potential alternative solutions.
