Functionality specifics

New settings

In the Spring release, we provided the ability within the new Your Profile function for citizens/users to change their name/email.

However, councils have asked if users could be told that this would only be in their account and if they'd like to notify departments of this to do so using a form etc.

To facilitate this there are now two new settings in OneVu Manage.   Add /manage to the end of the URL for OneVu and you will be able to access this. These settings are shown below:

And are called:

  • Optional notice displayed on Profile Email change, for example, when a change email form is also required
  • Optional notice displayed on Profile Name change, for example, when a change name form is also required

And whatever text is added in these will appear where the person is changing their name etc.

So if the text for a setting was changed as follows:

This appears, in this case when the user is changing their name, as follows:

Linking multiple accounts to a department

Something we've wanted to do for a while is the ability for a user to link multiple council tax accounts to their OneVu account. I.e. where a person owns multiple homes or liable in more than one place.

The challenge was how to do this in a way that meant real-time API call could still be used without affecting performance. The way it has been done now means that any personalised department e.g. council tax, business rates, landlords etc. can link an account/creditor ref and then go on and:

a) add others

b) make one a favourite i.e. default to load when viewing that department later

The following illustrates the new button to link/view other accounts:

But we can also see below the grey area there is now a section indicating the account number and postcode being viewed, which is clearly necessary when you have more than one account linked.

When the user clicks to view another account they will be able to complete the personalisation form for the other property as they would the first time they visit the council tax/business rates etc. page. Also where a user ends up with multiple linked accounts they can set a favourite.

This will mean that when they next visit that department the one that is their favourite will be the one that loads by default. This not only ensures the user can personalise their preference it also ensures we only have to speak to the back office for a given account number/creditor ref at any one time. The table also shows the account numbers, post code and the last time this account was accessed.

Also when an account has personalisation on it, it will now show the number of linked accounts etc. on the home screen, as shown here where there are three linked council tax accounts:

Multiple Portals

More to make you aware of  function we've nearly completed, we have built a function in OneVu called Portals.  What this does is allow a council to do is:

a) Have a OneVu 'microsite' that shows curated content specific to an area E.g. A Business version of OneVu or an Employee (so internal) portal

b) Filter which departments they see on the 'Get Answers Fast' page for this portal

c) Filter which forms they can complete for this portal

d) Filter which processes they can track for this portal

e) Change the look and feel specific to that portal

This function is shown below in the OneVu Manage area:

Clicking on one of these will then show how the filtering is done - I.e. for a Business Portal only certain departments have been selected. This same process is carried over to Forms / Service requests:

We believe this functionality provides a massive amount of flexibility and extends the benefits of OneVu.

We will be providing further updates on this over this year.
