Publishing

What is the difference between the two Publish options?

  • There are now two options for publishing because one relates to the old version of the forms and one relates to the new version of forms.

So, for example, if you have the new version in Development and Test Only, when you go to publish you will see two options when you go to publish from Development to Test:

    Publish mode
  • Recommended - Only publish the components needed to run this form in v2
  • All components needed to run this form in v1 of the forms framework

It is therefore possible to just publish the old version or the the ability to publish changes in the new version.

If you went to publish from Test to Live in this circumstance you would only see:

    Publish mode
  • All components needed to run this form in v1 of the forms framework

This is because, in v2, you still have the ability to push text/setting changes to live in the old version but IEG4 staff need to push the form into Live as well before you would see the 2nd option.

    Important

The great thing about v2 is you can carry out publishing any time of the day. We've made this change because in a Digital by Default strategy the concept of out of hours is no longer relevant. Therefore the sooner everything is pushed to live the quicker you can take advantage of this capability.

Conversely, you should not be publishing the old version of the forms during the day (or rather peak usage times) because performance will degrade.
