As a part of continuing enhancements to improve function, prevent issues and mitigate user error, we have carried out a significant number of changes to OneVu in this release v2.3. These are documented below.
Enhancements
The following are the functional and non-functional enhancements that have been done in this release:
1) File Upload Size
We have increased the maximum file size for an individual file that can be uploaded to be 12MB versus the current 4MB. This will mean that users uploading evidence within OneVu will be able to upload much larger files.
Plus, whereas previously it would just hang/not resolve itself there is now additional validation in place to alert users where they try to upload a file greater than the above limit. This is illustrated below:
2) Edit Date of Birth
Where a user accidentally adds their date of birth incorrectly there was previously no way to update this. Now it is possible for a citizen and customer services to update the date of birth. This is shown below:
This will be of particular use where a customer services advisor accidentally inputs a date of birth incorrectly and this means the customer cannot authenticate using the link sent to them.
3) Performance Improvements
A great number of performance improvements have been carried out under the hood of OneVu to improve the time for certain events to take place. For example when a person clicks on Track My Requests or Your Profile, in v2.2 there was a delay of 2-4 seconds. This is now down to sub 1 seconds. For those that have interest the following illustrates this objectively when viewing the browser:
Where the time to load Your Profile was 0.65 seconds.
4) Enhanced functionality when changing emails
Where there is a need to change an email address, if the user selects to change it to an email address that is already in use it is now clear and prevents this happening:
5) Enhanced functionality for creating / updating accounts
Previously, there was a lot of validation in place to prevent duplicate accounts being created for a person. However, there were some valid scenarios, particularly where there is citizen/customer service error that cause support issues both in terms of council support and IEG4 support.
For example, if someone creates an account with Facebook but then wants to change this to be an email address, it previously prevented this because their name, address, dob would match the details already held.
So, from v2.3 onward it will be possible to create a new/update an existing OneVu account as long as it is a different email address and that email address is not already associated with an account.
6) Various cosmetic changes
All minor updates to ensure consistency. The only obvious change is now in customer services vu, it says:
Create a new customer rather than Create a new account.
Amendments
The following updates have been made:
1) Form Search
We've made some changes to improve the general responsiveness of the search function that's present in 'Submit a request'.
2) Better handling of cancelling creation of a customer
Previously where a user cancelled the creation of a customer the system could take a long time to resolve itself. Now we've augmented this to improve the behaviour.
3) Emails with a + symbol
It is now possible to create an account that contains a plus symbol i.e. + which was reported as an issue by sites.
4) Creating a customer without an email matching
Previously, if you created a customer where matches were found it would assume the user would link to one of these. Now, however, it is also possible to not use one of these matches and instead create a new account with that customer.
5) Quick Search
Previously where a user typed into the quick search box, it would automatically start searching and if the user decided to change the content, it would actually run multiple separate searches.
This has been amended to work smarter and not fire multiple search requests and only send the last one.
6) Auto-complete is now disabled
Not so relevant for citizens but now auto-complete is disabled on register for an account so as to prevent accidental issues.
Fixes
The following items have been corrected as a part of this release:
1) Advanced Search - Postcode
Previously searching for customers via postcode would timeout and cause an error. This has now been remedied in this version.
2) Advanced Search - Paging
Sites reported that some times there were issues when moving through pages if there were many results on an advanced search. This has been resolved.
3) Advanced Search - Max Results selection
Previously if a user set the maximum results to be greater than 5 it would cause an error. This has been resolved.
4) Account Management Search
When a user tried to search for a customer in OneVu Manage > Account Management with email address it would timeout/not resolve itself. We have fixed this.
5) Error Pop Ups
Sometimes error pop ups would appear in the browser stating an error has occurred and to contact IEG4 support. Multiple instances where this is the case have been reviewed/remedied and where this is the case it will tell a user what the cause is.
